“There are two ways to be rich: One is by acquiring much, and the other is by desiring little.”
Jackie French Koller

When I embraced a tiny house lifestyle, my priorities shifted. Suddenly, I couldn’t have all of my posessions - There simply wasn’t room. I put most of my belongings in storage and two years later I couldn’t even remember what I had packed away.

To be successful, I was conditioned by society to believe I needed a big house, new cars, and status symbols galore. This mindset shifted when I met and fell in love with my husband. He saved money after grad school to build his own small house. He drove old cars and fixed them with pride. He didn’t seem to care if my jacket was high-end, or from the clearance pile at Goodwill. He was happiest when saving money and dreaming of his next tiny house build.

Living simply doesn’t guarantee happiness, but it does encourage freedom. Do you feel life is sometimes more complicated than it needs to be? How much time do you spend maintaining your home and possessions? What do you wish you had more time to do? Living more simply just may be a lifestyle change that brings more happiness and fulfillment to our days.
