Two years ago, we moved from our modern city abode to a fixer-upper in the land of suburbia. The house is still being worked on - our kids are keeping us busy and our fixer-upper pace has been slow! This year we decided to celebrate Christmas at our tiny home in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Since our home is in a state of constant state of construction, the thought of enjoying the holiday in a winter wonderland, without construction tools, seemed like the perfect getaway.

I told our kids we could pack anything they would like in a medium-sized box to help us channel the holiday spirit. My son looked confused and said “How are we going to fit a Christmas tree in there?” My four-year-old desperately wanted to decorate a tree, but this year our construction mess wouldn’t quite allow this. I had underestimated his desire to have a tree of his own. As I focused on his quizzical brow, I felt the holiday spirit emerging. I promised him we would have our own Christmas tree to decorate, and it didn’t need to fit in the box this time. We still have four days to figure this out!

From our family to you, we wish you all the joy of this holiday season!
